About Us

COCO was founded in memory of Beverly’s sister, Debi Furnish, who died of Ovarian Cancer in 2005, nine months after she was diagnosed.  Co-founders Beverly Van Houten and Jerri Robinson also lost a classmate around that same time, Ellen Liebman.  In the summer of 2006 they started to form the idea that became COCO.  They gathered some friends, Phyllis Liebman, Marie Cull, Pam Bourne, Kathy Phelps, Vicki Oliver and Darlene Stivers and set about to make a difference. Since 2009, C.O.C.O. has awarded over $62,500 in research funding the University of Kentucky ovarian cancer screening program.
